In a heartwarming celebration of its 20th anniversary, the Chartway Promise Foundation recently hosted a four-day series of events across Utah to support and uplift four medically fragile children—known as Promise Heroes—and their families.
The festivities began in Eagle Mountain with a backyard playset build for 4-year-old Everett, who is battling a rare disease called Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis. Thanks to a partnership with Roc Solid Foundation, Everett now has a safe place to play with his siblings right at home. Over 20 Chartway team members and leaders came out to build the playset and cheer on Everett and his siblings when they came out to play on it for the first time.
That same evening, the Foundation held its Night for Joy in Salt Lake City, where 5-year-old Whitney, who lives with Rett Syndrome, learned that her wish to visit Disney World would be coming true—thanks to a grant made possible through the Foundation’s partnership with Make-A-Wish Utah. The event attended by 100 community members, also included a silent auction, anniversary video and live entertainment by Jean Pierre.
On Monday, at a team member celebration event at top Golf, 5-year-old Juan, who is currently cancer-free after a difficult medical journey, was surprised with the news of his upcoming wish trip to Disney World. Juan and his family stayed on to have dinner and try their hands at golfing along with the Chartway team.
The events concluded on Tuesday at the ninth annual Putting for Promises golf tournament, where 16-year-old Shantell learned she’ll be celebrating her 17th birthday in style at Lagoon’s Rose Terrace. The tournament, a fundraiser for the foundation, also brought together multiple charity partners and Promise families for a day of joy and community.
“These experiences are about celebrating courage and creating joy for children and their families during some of their toughest times,” said Christine Wilson, president of the Chartway Promise Foundation. “We’re honored to share these moments with them and the communities we serve.”
Since its founding, the Chartway Promise Foundation has granted $16 million to support children with critical illnesses.
